STOP The Bleed Course
$35.00 + Hst
Massive bleeding from any cause, but particularly from an active shooter or explosive event where a response is delayed can result in death. Victims can quickly die from uncontrolled bleeding, within five to 10 minutes.
Stop the Bleed is an initiative of the American College of Surgeons and the Hartford Consensus that provides civilian bystanders the skills and basic tools to stop uncontrolled bleeding in an emergency situation and save lives.
Similar to how the general public learns and performs CPR, the public must learn proper bleeding control techniques, including how to use their hands, dressings, and tourniquets. Only certified healthcare providers can administer a Stop the Bleed course.
The purpose of the STOP THE BLEED® campaign is to make our nation more resilient by better preparing the public to save lives if people nearby are severely bleeding. This preparation is being done by raising awareness and teaching people how to learn three quick actions to control serious bleeding.
Eligible students are any individuals who may be called upon to assist with trauma patients while waiting for first response or EMS to arrive. The course has been designed for students who have received little or no prior medical training. Examples of potential students include construction workers, farmers, hunters, anglers, and outdoors enthusiasts.
Approximate course duration: 2 - 3 hours
