NFPA 1006: Ice Rescue Awareness

The Online Ice Rescue Awareness course is the first step in your safety and rescue training.

This comprehensive course covers topics of how the ice forms, basic equipment needs, safety and rescue applications and more. This is a self paced online course that takes up to 4 hrs to complete.

The Ice Rescue Awareness course is based on the NFPA 1006 Standard for Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications and is designed for rescue service personnel who respond to and support ice rescue operations.

This online program introduces water rescue subjects that include:

• The safety concept

• Ice types and formation

• Site assessment and hazard recognition

• Personal Protective Equipment

• safety measures.

This course is the pre-requisite for our ice rescue operations program.
